Hard doesn’t mean impossible or it does not mean that you must not have fun all along your way nor make this process painless.
That is where the social media calendar will come in.
The social media calendar will help you to visualize your planned social media posts for next weeks and months ahead.
On top of this, it can help you to craft your posts beforehand so that you have got something to share.
Let us take a close look on how you will make this happen!
Creating the Social Media Calendar
Suppose you have not done it already while creating your sharing calendar, it’s helpful to actually come up with the list of different post types you want to share on the regular basis, particularly if you share different updates. Types of posts that you share will include:
- Blog Posts
- Conversation starters
- Re-shares interesting content
- Images or Videos — Different Multimedia Content
You will get as narrow or broad with these as required for the content.
Now you have got your categories and it is time to choose when (days or times) you want to share it.
For instance, the blog posts may get shared Monday to Wednesday & Tips every Friday.
Start New Updates
It is where one of the most fun and beneficial part of the social media calendar will come in.
To come up with the content that you are sharing in the coming weeks or months.
It is recommended to come up a day or category, whatever you feel is effective for you and inspires you.
Besides regular posts, the year is filled with some special events.
It may be good to plan ahead so that you will ensure not miss any of them and create much opportunities and excitement around them.
I will suggest writing down the posts for events as early as possible so that you will diminish risks of forgetting and missing one.
Special events you may consider covering will include
- Product Launches
- Holidays, especially ones relevant for your industry
Types of Calendars
There’re different ways to arrange the social media calendar that depends on your needs & preferences.
Having the monthly view for the calendar is a good way for not just visualizing your content for next some weeks but also helps to highlight some big events that are coming up, which you may want to focus at.
The monthly view will work for busy and light schedules. For the busy schedule, I will recommend using this to highlight important posts so it does not feel very crowded.
Weekly or Daily View
Weekly and the daily view are actually where the bulk of the work will go. The best method to stay effective with the social media calendar will be having every single post for a day of one week written out.
